Fill Out Your Backerkit Survey!
over 10 years ago – Sat, Nov 28, 2015 at 08:17:32 PM

About 60 of you have still not filled out your Backerkit survey.  Please be sure to do so in order to receive your pledge!

I have sent the survey out through Backerkit probably 10~15 times over the last few months, so check any and all e-mail folders (junk, etc.) if you have not seen it in the past.  I also sent out an invite just a minute ago.

Thank you!

Important: Address Changes
over 10 years ago – Mon, Nov 23, 2015 at 11:34:15 PM

Hi Backers,

This is a two-week notice to make sure your address in Backerkit is current for the delivery of Nova Cry.  If you have any issues updating your info, please avail yourself to Backerkit's inquiry team before contacting me.

Our manufacturer has told me that the first mass production copy should be available in a week and a half.

Excited!

Production Has Started!
over 10 years ago – Thu, Nov 05, 2015 at 10:47:47 PM

Our manufacturer's printers have begun whirring away on Nova Cry this morning in Beijing!

We had a scare regarding the raster format of some of the cards (causing blurriness), but that issue has been resolved and the final samples from the off-set printer looks good.  They have given an estimate of 35~40 days for production and promise more pics are on the way.

In probably a week or two, I will send out a final address update reminder before we hand off the address info to our fulfillment partner.

Honestly, a pretty relieving day for myself.  Thanks guys.

Final Checks Before Mass Production
over 10 years ago – Sun, Nov 01, 2015 at 12:20:46 AM

Just a quick update regarding our prepping for mass production.

My manufacturer needed the pantone numbers of the colors for the improved pawns and that has been taken care of at this point.  I confirmed with them that these improved custom pawns will not cut into our production schedule.  (Sorry, I don't have any pics of of the pawns as they have not been made yet).

We also caught a graphics error on the tuck box of the Dark Suns expansion that wasn't layering some of the picture right, allowing for the starry background to peek through the ship on the cover.  That is taken care of now.

I've decided to make the cubes larger as well (from 8mm to 10mm), and this will be an increased cost of $0.36 per game but they're important and need to be easily seen by other players.  I've never liked it in games where I have to constantly ask, "How much money/resources is that in front of you?" 8mm was just too small.

I received an e-mail yesterday from the manufacturer that they need a release confirmation from me (and I'm assuming the last half of the production payment) and then we can begin.  I will certainly provide an update the day our production starts.  Production should be ~40 days.  If all goes well, Christmas delivery, or late Jan at worst according to my estimates.  I will continue to provide updated estimates if my fulfillment company at any point thinks that estimate should be changed.

Final Check & Proofs
over 10 years ago – Mon, Oct 12, 2015 at 01:53:37 PM

Very quick update to say that I have selected new pawns for the game after many of you (myself included) did not like what we had.  These will be more expensive, but I think the game deserves it at this point.  They are not high-quality pawns but they will look better than the bland ones we had earlier.

We caught one major error in the rulebook, an issue with the punchouts, and are readjusting the size of the Discovery Table.  My designer said these will be corrected this weekend.

Our last step here is to request proofs of all the cards (not laser-printed, but made from our manufacturer's offset printer) to make sure colors and text are clear and clean.  The blues and blacks of the space backgrounds can be tricky.

Then if all looks good the final payment will be made and production starts! Woo-hoo.
